Join us November 2, 2024
Dear Friends,
Trinity Cathedral is blessed with gifts for life-changing ministry in this world: from historic architecture to gifted musicians and ministry leaders to a reputation for transformative service and witness in the world.
Yet perhaps our greatest treasure is that of a history, an unfolding story of ministry in an ever-changing urban environment.
You may already know that Trinity is the longest-worshipping Christian community in the city of Cleveland. Over those years, the ministers who led our faithful communities have been leaders in the American church and faithful servants to the people of Cleveland. The lay leaders, faithful and generous and creative, have built a cathedral in stone and a community of compassion and advocacy that is well-known throughout Northeast Ohio.
I firmly believe that to learn our deeper history through the eyes of those who experienced it is a rare gift, one that we as a Cathedral community have a great opportunity to explore.

I’d like to invite you to Trinity Cathedral’s first History Day on November 2, where we’ll begin to explore Trinity’s past through the lenses of faithful Trinitarians who served as the Cathedral was being built, who endured the hardship of the Second World War, and who were here in the late 20th century as the Cathedral began to live into a new ministry in a changing downtown.
But this is also about our future as a church. That same day, Bishop Sean Rowe’s installation as Presiding Bishop will be livestreamed, and Trinity will host a viewing party integrated into our history day.
The schedule is as follows:
- 10:00 AM | Trinity Cathedral’s History, Part 1
- 11:00 AM | Presiding Bishop Installation Livestream (with snacks)
- 12:30 PM | Lunch
- 1:30 PM | Trinity Cathedral’s History, Part 2
All are welcome…not just our weekly congregation per se, but all those who know Trinity as their cathedral, as an embodied expression of the ministry of the Diocese of Ohio.
We’d love to have you! Click HERE to register today.
Join me in celebrating the history of Trinity Cathedral, and in charting a course into a new season of ministry in Cleveland and Northeast Ohio.

The Very Rev. Bernard J. Owens
