To be a sacred place for all people, the sustainment and growth of our membership at Trinity Cathedral is deeply rooted in the values of hospitality and community. In Romans 15:7 we are reminded to “Therefore welcome one another as Christ has welcomed you, for the glory of God.” This passage urges us to extend a warm embrace to all who come through our doors, just as Christ has warmly embraced us.
Who should do this welcoming, you may ask? We all are called upon to be hospitable and welcoming.
Inviting and connecting newcomers with programming resources is equally crucial for Trinity Cathedral’s growth. Trinity’s diverse array of programs—ranging from bible study and worship services to urban garden and hiking groups—provides members with opportunities to engage, learn, and grow in their faith. These programs are vital in fostering a sense of belonging and participation, ensuring that every member can find their place within the Trinity community.
A warm invitation is not just about the words, but about the feeling it creates – a sense of belonging and welcome. By actively inviting newcomers to participate in these programs, we help them integrate into the life of the cathedral, building connections that strengthen both their personal faith and our collective mission.
When you speak with someone new this week at Trinity ask them what they are involved in both at church and outside – share the name of a new Circle with them – invite them to join you at an activity. As we open our hearts and doors to newcomers, we not only honor the teachings of Christ but also ensure a flourishing future for our beloved cathedral.
Lastly, please consider offering your welcoming self to serve in the new Coffee Hour program. Support of coffee hours by Cathedral Staff will be ending soon and we need capable hands and welcoming faces to keep this essential community focused function of the cathedral going. Imagine how “unwelcoming” Trinity will be without a coffee hour. Please sign up to support the Coffee Hour today!
