Position Available: Building Steward

Position Description: The Building Steward is a dependable and detail-oriented professional responsible for maintaining the cleanliness, safety, and overall appearance of the Trinity campus. This role plays a key part in creating a welcoming environment for all who enter by ensuring facilities are clean, well-maintained, and functioning properly. The Building Steward works both independently and collaboratively, demonstrating initiative and pride in maintaining Trinity’s campus to the highest standard.

Primary Responsibilities:

Facility Care & Cleaning

  • Perform routine janitorial duties, including sweeping, mopping, vacuuming, dusting, buff, polish, and sanitizing surfaces
  • Clean and maintain restrooms, kitchens, common areas, offices, and worship spaces
  • Manage waste and recycling, including regular trash removal
  • Complete deep cleaning and periodic cleaning projects as assigned
  • Clean high traffic areas (including but not limited to: windows, doors, carpet, floors, blinds) on a regular basis
  • Maintain daily and weekly log of activities

Building Maintenance

  • Monitor building condition and report maintenance needs or safety concerns promptly
  • Perform minor maintenance tasks (e.g., changing light bulbs, basic repairs)
  • Interface with vendors to ensure the work they are to perform is completed according to specifications as requested.
  • Perform minor repairs to the building and fixtures such as chairs, chair stops, table stops, cabinet hands, and drains.
  • Install, Inspect and troubleshoot equipment and systems as needed.
  • Maintain adequate levels of all supplies such as cleaning products, soap, paper products, etc.

Hospitality & Space Use

  • Perform setup and teardown for events, meetings, and services
  • Set-up LCD projectors, computers, DVDs, TVs, and sound systems as needed for room rentals or events.

Campus Stewardship & Safety

  • Ensure the campus is presentable, organized, and welcoming at all times
  • Maintain entrances, walkways, and common areas in a clean and safe condition
  • Support seasonal or weather-related needs (e.g., snow removal coordination, salt application if applicable)
  • Help ensure the facility remains compliant with applicable health and safety standards
  • Secure the building as needed (locking/unlocking doors, monitoring access)

Education, Skills and Knowledge:    

  • High School diploma or GED.
  • 3+ year(s) of experience in building maintenance.
