After a year of discernment and search and transition, this Sunday we welcome the Rev. Megan Allen-Miller as Trinity’s Priest Associate! We’ll celebrate her with a festive Sunday Schmooze in Cathedral Hall…I hope you’ll plan to be with us and to meet her.
This is an exciting time for Trinity Cathedral, and indeed a new season of ministry. Megan brings wonderful gifts for pastoral ministry and community outreach and she’ll help us to deepen our care and support for members of our congregation as well as folk in the wider community.
We are profoundly fortunate to be calling a third full-time priest to broaden the ministry of the cathedral, but this is more than simply growing our staff. This will represent a change to how we carry out many of our ministries. We already noticed it this week as we welcomed Megan to the staff: over more than a decade we have settled into ways of doing things as a two-priest staff, and now we see that we’ll be working a little differently.
The same will be true, over time, for many of our ministries. Some of our ministries will be supported by different staff members; in some places we’ll be seeking to deepen our lay ministry leadership, while in others, such as pastoral care, we have a deeper bench of clergy who can support you in times of need.
Even good change is still change: when our familiar patterns shift, sometimes after a period of joy we can feel a little unsteady. But that is when we know that we are really growing.
I look forward to joining you as we welcome Megan this Sunday (and also celebrate the blessing of the animals…it’s a big day!) and to supporting her ministry at Trinity and in Cleveland.
Faithfully,
