Juneteenth Sunday

This Sunday, Trinity Cathedral will recognize Juneteenth during our worship services. Juneteenth commemorates June 19, 1865, the day when enslaved people in Galveston, Texas, finally learned they were free—more than two years after the Emancipation Proclamation had been issued. Long observed in Black communities as a celebration of freedom, resilience, and hope, Juneteenth became a federal holiday in 2021.
