The Cathedral Choir
Trinity Chamber Singers
The Trinity Chamber Singers is an auditioned group of approximately 18 highly skilled and experienced singers. They sing evensong every other week (alternating with the Cathedral Choir), in addition to performing occasionally at other services and concerts at the Cathedral and around the Diocese.
Trinity Chamber Orchestra
The Trinity Chamber Orchestra was founded in 1986 under the direction of Daniel Hathaway, followed by Dr. Horst Buchholz, and currently Todd Wilson. The orchestra ranges in size from a string ensemble to a 30-piece concert orchestra and is composed of some of the finest area free-lance professionals. The orchestra collaborates with featured performers and choirs as well as playing orchestral works in a wide range of styles.
Todd Wilson is regarded across America and around the world as one of today’s finest concert organists, choral directors, and conductors. Wilson received the Bachelor and Master of Music degrees from the College Conservatory of Music at the University of Cincinnati with additional studies at The Eastman School of Music. Currently, he is head of the Organ Department at The Cleveland Institute of Music, curator of the Norton Memorial Organ in Severance Hall, and is house organist at Stan Hywet Hall and Gardens in Akron. He directs the Trinity Cathedral Choir, Trinity Chamber Singers, and the Trinity Chamber Orchestra. Through the many prestigious national and international professional and educational positions and associations Mr. Wilson has held, the BrownBag Concerts have had the pleasure of hosting some of the finest musical talent in the world.
For over twenty years Concert Master and Violinist Mary Beth Ions has been one of Cleveland’s most active musicians. Along with the Trinity Chamber Orchestra, she plays in the Opera Cleveland Orchestra, Cleveland Pops Orchestra, and numerous Playhouse Square productions of touring Broadway shows. She regularly provides back-up music for Mannheim Steamroller, Barry Manilow, Johnny Mathis, Rod Stewart, Smokey Robinson, Yanni, Sarah Brightman, Jewel, Clay Aiken and Josh Groban.
The Gateway Band provides music for Trinity’s weekly 9 am Mostly Jazz service. The band is led by 9 am Music Coordinator and Cantor Jennifer Cochran and consists of three of the most gifted and versatile jazz musicians in the Cleveland area: George Lee, bass; L.R. Smith, piano; and Chris Vandall, percussion. The Gateway Band plays in a wide array of styles, including jazz, folk music, world music, spirituals, and traditional hymns in jazz idioms.
