GCC, we are engaged in the long-term fight for Criminal Justice Reform. As the largest broad-based community organizing group in Northeast Ohio, we have the power to transform the criminal justice system in our city and suburbs and throughout Cuyahoga County.
In February, Greater Cleveland Congregations held a successful 1,000-person Public Action and 3-day IAF training for new GCC leaders. In March, GCC will focus on continuing its work in criminal justice, building relationships and engaging in schools. Please mark your calenders for these upcoming meetings.
Trinity Greater Cleveland Congregations Core Team Sunday, March 1 12:45 p.m. At this meeting we will discuss: GCC University – the 2.5 day training session hosted at Trinity Feb. 15-17. There were about 30-35 individuals in this session. I was the only representative from Trinity. I found it a very helpful venue to hear about the GCC philosophy and historical footprint. GCC University Feb. 15-17 Training is free and a unique opportunity to learn more about Greater Cleveland Congregations organizing philosophy. Recommended for persons considering future local GCC volunteer leadership positions. Attendees must commit to 100% presence at all sessions. Sunday, Feb. 15 at 3 p.m.; Monday and Tuesday, Feb. 16 and 17 – full-day commitments. Sessions will be held at Trinity Commons. Pre-registration is required. The GCC Gun Violence Reduction Team has had a season of hard work and major victories including international relationships, a national strategy, work to stop the pipeline of illegal guns in the County, and many meetings with and letters to local mayors and elected officials. GCC is a leader in the Do Not Stand Idly By gun violence reduction campaign, and NOW is the time to publicize and claim recognition for this work.
Based on our unanimous vote to recommend to the Strategy Team to support the CMSD Bond Renewal Levy, we have three upcoming opportunities to have conversations and gather research.
