The Dean’s Corner: Opening the Doors

The Dean’s Corner

Opening the Doors

The doors are open!

I can’t tell you what a thrill and a relief it was, on a beautiful early September day, to walk outside and see students sitting in the gardens and on the steps of the cathedral.  As we begin to cautiously open the cathedral and the commons, we are grateful to again be a place of meditation, renewal, and healing for students and neighbors.

The Rev. Adrienne Koch is doing great work in connecting with students and campus leaders, hosting a Trinity Cathedral table alongside campus organizations such as the LGBTQ+ Center, Black Studies Program, and Lift Up Vikes Food Pantry at CSU’s Be Well. Be Healthy. Be You. FEST!  She encountered students who noted the importance of keeping our cathedral doors open, and the value of a sacred space for all people on a campus like this. She also gave away Trinity-branded frisbees…lots of frisbees.

It’s been wonderful this week, as the commons have reopened, and we’ve been able to reopen the doors of our sacred space to all the people of God. Thank you for all the ways you have helped us to carry through the pandemic, and for making this moment happen for the students who bring life to our neighborhood.

Blessings,

The Very Rev. Bernard J Owens
