The Dean’s Corner: Supporting the Diocese

The Dean’s Corner
Supporting the Diocese

One of the most important ways that Trinity Cathedral can support and partner with the people of the Diocese of Ohio is to serve on committees that support the people and clergy of our churches. Trinity is blessed with an abundance of folks for whom faithful leadership is both a gift and a passion, and it is vital that we see the wider ministry of the diocese as a part of who we are.

Each year at our Diocesan Convention we elect members to various committees, and the nomination deadline for this year’s November convention is this coming Tuesday, September 15. Can you see a place where you might wish to serve? The Standing Committee serves as council of advice to the bishop and oversees property transactions, and serves as a governance body in partnership with Standing Committees throughout the Episcopal Church. Diocesan Trustees work with the Joint Investment Fund and make decisions related to the disposition of property. Diocesan Council oversees the creation of the budget and supports the various ministries of the diocese. The Episcopal Community Services Development Council reviews grant proposals to serve local communities. The Regional Disciplinary Board forms a hearing body in cases of alleged clergy misconduct, and Province 5 Synod Delegate connects our diocese to the work of others throughout the Midwest.

If you’d like more information you can review the descriptions here, and if you’re interested in knowing more or being nominated please reach out to me, to the Rev. Adrienne Koch or to Janet Lechleitner, a member of the vestry and nominating committee.

Thank you for prayerfully discerning the ways we deepen our fidelity to our wider church!

The Very Rev. Bernard J Owens
