The Dean’s Corner:  A Joyful Gift in Advent

The Dean’s Corner

A Joyful Gift an Advent

This Sunday we will “premier” a worship schedule that bears some resemblance to what we were used to in the pre-COVID days.  We begin the day with a 9:00 a.m. zoom service, led by young adult liturgists but offered as a creative and intimate Advent service for the whole congregation. We’ll then have Spiritual Formation at 10:00 a.m. followed by an 11:00 a.m. premier of our principal service with a service of Zoom Choral Evensong at 4:00 p.m. to round out the day! Though we remain physically apart, we can begin to explore ways to again offer the diversity of worship that is a gift of the cathedral.

As we draw nearer both to the season of Christmas and the end of the calendar year, I also invite you to consider ways of serving and expressing gratitude through giving. You can make a year-end gift to support Trinity’s hunger and outreach ministries at any time. You can pledge to support Trinity in 2021, or you can contribute to your capital campaign pledge if you haven’t completed that yet. (We’ll send reminders soon so that we can draw that important project to a close, so be sure to let us know if something has changed since you made that pledge in 2016.) You can donate to Music and Art at Trinity, or to the clergy discretionary fund that allows us to care directly for those in need. There are so many ways to express gratitude!

The end of the year is also a good time for many folks to make donations, and the CARES act supports churches and nonprofits by making it more favorable to make gifts in 2020. The need is certainly great, so I hope you’ll consider making a joyful gift!
