Dean’s Forum Is Now Just the “Forum”

2018 Fall/Winter GuideYou should have received your copy of the Trinity 2018 Fall & Winter Program Guide in the mail recently. You may have noticed some changes. One significant difference is that what was called the “Dean’s Forum” we now refer to simply as the “Forum.” There are two reasons for this. The Forum is now being offered September through July and takes place whether the dean can be present or not. Secondly, the program format has shifted over the last year from being guest interviews by the dean to mostly presentations by both members and guests with an emphasis on group discussion.

The Forum’s new format —  interactive presentations often with PowerPoint slides or hand-outs with discussion – has made podcasting challenging and less effective. For this reason, there were several Forums last spring that did not have podcasts posted. They just didn’t work outside the live presentation. Podcasts are being made and posted for those Forums that lend themselves to this medium and have broad appeal.  Weekly sermon and Evensong podcasts, however, will continue to be offered online as regularly as before.

There will be future Forum podcasts when it makes sense. The Sunday, September 16 Forum with Ohio’s Poet Laureate David Lucas is a premier example of a “podcastable” Forum program.  Even if you attended the Forum, you probably want to listen to the podcast to relive Mr. Lucas’ reading of his poem “Crooked,” his thoughts on the Eucharist, and his insights into myth. You can access the September 16 Forum podcast HERE.
