A Sermon for the twentieth Sunday after Pentecost. The Rev. Gary Mitchener was our guest preacher.
Gary Mitchener was born in suburban St.Louis and raised in an evangelical denomination, Gary discovered the roominess of the Episcopal Church while in college. With two graduate divinity degrees—one from the Episcopal Theological School and the other from Harvard—he returned to the Diocese of Missouri to serve his curacy. Most of his subsequent work, however, has been in New England, including eight years as the Episcopal chaplain at Dartmouth College. From 1992 until 2000 he served as canon pastor at Trinity. In retirement, following several extended stints as interim rector here in Ohio, he more recentlyis enjoying doing “Sunday preaching gigs” around the Diocese.
