Longtime Trinity Cathedral members Patty and Steve Roberts recently received the 2015 Resident Leaders Award from Ohio City Inc. for their leadership in the Ohio City neighborhood, where they live.

Having formerly lived in Shaker Heights for nearly 25 years, Patty and Steve relocated to Ohio City in 2013 for its walkability and its close proximity to friends and Trinity Cathedral. They felt quickly at home in the neighborhood and wanted to find ways to get involved.

After connecting with neighbors, Patty and Steve were able to find unique ways to give back to their new community. Patty has always had a passion for volunteer work, having almost two decades of volunteering with Trinity Cathedral, Music and Arts at Trinity, the League of Women Voters and the Cleveland Orchestra. She now leads the Bridge/Carroll/Jay block club in Ohio City which includes facilitating meetings, providing updates on Ohio City news, and helping to empower her fellow community members to become involved in neighborhood happenings.

Steve got to know the neighborhood by riding his bike and discovering many ways improve the neighborhood. He organized the first Ohio City Clean-Up Day.  He maintains the flower garden at the entrance to the West Side Market, and assists Rotary with its Red Line Greenway project. On Saturdays he coaches soccer for Near West Recreation.
