Dean’s Forum: 10:10 a.m.

Around the wider church, there is great discussion around the question of reinvigorating the church. How will that happen? This is God’s work for sure, but we are invited to participate in strengthening the vitality of our congregations. In this forum, we will explore the premise that congregations are as spiritually vital as the individuals in them. We’ll consider those things that contribute to spiritual growth and those that get in the way. We’ll reflect on what those insights might mean for Trinity Cathedral in days ahead.

The Rev. Jay Sidebotham is the executive director of RenewalWorks, a ministry of Forward Movement, the people behind Forward Day by Day and other resources to nurture discipleship and encourage evangelism. Siebotham previously served as rector of Church of the Holy Spirit in Lake Forest, Ill., where he led the congregation through an intensive and sustained period of spiritual growth and renewal. Before coming to Church of the Holy Spirit, he served at St. Bart’s, New York City; St. Columba’s, Washington, D.C.; St. Luke’s, Durham, N.C.; and St. Martin’s, Providence, R.I. He is well known for his cartoons about church life and his animation work on the television cartoon Schoolhouse Rock! He has also worked in New York in the fields of animation, illustration, and advertising.
