Bishop Gene Robinson: What Storm is God Calling You Into?

The Rt. Rev. V. Gene Robinson is the Ninth Bishop of New Hampshire, a position to which he was elected by the people of that diocese in 2003. A graduate of the University of the South in Sewanee and General Theological Seminary, his first ordained position was as curate at Christ Church in Ridgewood, New Jersey–a position also held, several years later, by Dean Lind.

Bishop Robinson is a leader in clergy wellness, AIDS education, debt relief for impoverished nations and socially responsible investing. He serves as a member of the Church Pension Fund and the New Hampshire Children’s Alliance.

Known around the world as a hero in the movement for the full inclusion of gay, lesbian, bisexual and transgender people, Bishop Robinson told his story in the 2007 feature-length documentary For the Bible Tells Me So and in his 2008 book In the Eye of the Storm: Swept to the Center by God. He has received two honorary doctorates and numerous civil rights awards. In January 2009, at the invitation of Barack Obama, he gave the invocation at the opening inaugural ceremonies held at the Lincoln Memorial.

We are honored to welcome Bishop Robinson to Trinity Cathedral.
