Dear Friends:

We're trying to practice good religion, and we need your help.

What is good religion? We practice it when we stand against violence and exclusion and for justice. It brings about the kingdom of God on earth by feeding the hungry, healing the sick, and bringing good news to the poor. Good religion proclaims not God's punishment or hatred, but rather God's love for all creation.

We try to practice good religion every day at Trinity. We open the doors to Trinity Commons and invite the community to enter. We worship and pray together in many styles and forms. We weep with and work for our brothers and sisters who suffer from poverty and injustice. We work to sustain and steward God's creation.

To do these things--to continue standing as a beacon of good religion in the heart of our hurting city--we rely on pledges from members of Trinity's congregation. The current economic climate means that we receive less endowment income than in recent memory. We have worked hard to increase foundation grants and charitable donations, but without significant financial support from Trinity members, our ministry would be impossible.

There's still time for you to make a financial pledge to Trinity for 2010, either using the enclosed pledge card or online at www.trinitycleveland.org. As you consider your pledge, we invite you to reflect on how God is calling you into a deeper relationship with our community of faith and the work God does through us. Please give generously to support our witness of good religion to the community and the world.
