WALKING THE WAY OF THE CROSS
Sculptural Meditations
On view: February 22-April 6
Guided walks by the artist: February 22-25
A reflection on Jesus’ Passion by the Rev. Thomas Faulkner.
The Fourteen Stations Of The Cross Project was commissioned by the national Episcopal Church for its 2003 General Convention. Rev. Faulkner, an Episcopal priest and sculptor, spent eight months as the Red Cross Officer in charge of the 60 chaplains ministering at the temporary morgue at Ground Zero following the 9/11 attacks on the World Trade Center. He and the chaplains blessed all human remains removed from the site and offered prayer and counseling for workers. Walking the Way of the Cross was inspired by that ministry. In addition to referencing 9/11, the stunning and provocative representations also examine the war in Iraq, the battle at Little Bighorn and other atrocities and tragedies. The artist uses ordinary, contemporary objects—suitcases, television sets, ironing boards, cameras—to tell Christ’s story.
The conceptual art exhibition will be on view at Trinity from Ash Wednesday, Feb. 22 through Good Friday, April 6. The Rev. Faulkner will lead guided station walks Feb. 22-25. Rev. Faulkner is the vicar at Christ Church in Sparkill, N.Y. To learn more about Rev. Faulkner, visit thomasdfaulkner.com.

TREBLEFEST
February 11
Begins at 9 a.m.
A day-long workshop for children’s choirs (through high school age) from the diocese (and our neighbor Cathedral in Erie, Pa). TrebleFest 2012 begins at 9 a.m. and concludes with Choral Evensong at 3 p.m. The Rt. Rev. Mark Hollingsworth, Jr. officiates and the service is free and open to the public.
The day will be lead by choir directors Todd Wilson, Daniel Fortune, Sharon Downey and Dr. Richard Nelson.
Dr. Gerre Hancock (1934-2012), Rest in Peace.
Gerre Hancock, who was to lead Treblefest, died on Jan. 21. Gerre was an inspiration and mentor to a generation of organists and church musicians in the United States and around the world. He was also a great believer that “the show must go on.” Treblefest will indeed go on as planned, with Dr. Hancock’s memory and inspiration to lead us.
