Since the first Book of Common Prayer in 1549, Choral Evensong has been an evening offering sung in cathedrals and churches of the Anglican Communion. Choral Evensong is followed by community supper ($5) with educational programs at 7:30 p.m. Podcasts of Choral Evensong services are available here.

Below is a list of Choral Evensong services for the season. Details listed below each date include:
Line 1: The person or event being commemorated (spans history from early centuries A.D. to contemporary figures)
Line 2: Preacher for that evening’s service
Line 3: Choral group singing at the service
Line 4: Evensong is a mostly choral service, sung by the choir on behalf of everyone. One of the core ingredients is a choral setting of the Magnificat (song of Mary) and Nunc dimittis (song of Simeon), two famous and ancient canticles (a song that has words from the Bible) of the Church. There are hundreds of musical settings of these texts, written by composers from the 15th century up to today. The fourth line specifies the setting being sung that day (i.e., on Oct. 28 we’re singing a brand new setting just written for us by San Francisco composer, Mark Winges!)
