Community Conversations

Hosted by The Sisters of Charity Foundation of Cleveland on behalf of the Central Promise Neighborhood

Giving Cleveland’s children an opportunity for success takes work and commitment from our entire community. The Sisters of Charity Foundation of Cleveland extends a heartfelt thank you to all the students, parents, residents, community-based organizations, agencies, elected officials, business leaders and other stakeholders for your ongoing support, encouragement and participation as we strive to secure a Promise Neighborhood grant from the Department of Education for the Central Neighborhood.

This exciting community collaboration, dedicated to promoting our children’s success remains strong in Cleveland’s Central neighborhood and many strides continue to be taken to deliver on the Promise. The Department of Education released the 2012 Notice Inviting Applications for both implementation and planning grants, with a fiscal budget of $60 million dollars. As you know, our 2012 proposal ranked sixth in the nation, missing funding by .33. The Sisters of Charity Foundation of Cleveland remain committed to the students and families in Central and are gearing up for another submission to the Department of Education.

Key to the success of the Promise initiative thus far has been the extraordinary commitment, partnership and collaboration among residents, community-based organizations, agencies, elected officials, business leaders and other stakeholders. We hope that the students and families in Central can continue to count on your collaboration and support this year.

Over the next several weeks, the Foundation will host, on behalf of the Central Promise Neighborhood, a series of Community Conversations. The purpose of these meetings is to hear from you – the community as we continue to build upon the vision of Promise, identify new resources and opportunities to support Promise and further inform the development of the 2012 application to the Department of Education. Each community conversation will have a unique focus and be hosted throughout the Central neighborhood.

We encourage all community members to attend, including residents (students, parents, guardians), community-based organizations, service providers, agencies, elected officials, business leaders, school staff and administration, faith leaders and other community stakeholders. Following is the calendar for the upcoming series of Community Conversations.
